This is one of the oldest claims of Muslims, that Muhammad was a Prophet and Mercy for whole Mankind. Muslims quote some Quranic verses, and Hadith to support their claim, but they fail to acknowledge the contradictory verses from Qur’an, and they ignore those contradictory Narrations from Hadith, calling them unauthentic. In this article we will see, whether he was sent as Mercy to Mankind and as a universal prophet or for only Arabs.
But before we begin searching the truth, let me quote some verses, which really say that Muhammad was sent as a universal prophet and a Mercy to Mankind. For instance see Qur’an 7:158:-
Say, [O Muhammad], “O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, [from Him] to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death.” So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words, and follow him that you may be guided.
And, Qur’an 21:107
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
These verses are widely quoted by Muslims because it clearly says that Muhammad was sent for entire Human race, and was a Mercy for Mankind. But these verses raises some possible questions, which are as follows:-
- What Happened in just 600 years after death of Jesus, that Allah planned to send a New Prophet?
- Why not Allah preserved the Law revealed by Moses, Jesus or any other prophet, when he decided to do for his last revealed book?
- Why not he made Jesus the last prophet, as he is more seen as a man of Love and Peace?
- On which Parameter did Allah judged Muhammad to be the Last and Final Messenger?
- Why Allah sent so many Messenger, when he could have sent his message through first Messenger only?
These are few questions, which come to my mind after going through the above quoted two Quranic verses. But this is not enough, we do have many verses from Qur’an which say, that Muhammad was sent only for Arabs, and not for mankind. Read Qur’an 14:4:-
And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
So, in this verse Allah clearly says that he did not send any Messenger, except speaking in the language of his people. Then according to this verse, Allah sent Muhammad for Arabs, because Arabs were his (Muhammad’s) own people, who spoke in language in which Muhammad did. The second part of the verse says, that Allah sends astray whomever he wills, so those people don’t need Prophets, as it is a divine will of GOD.
The second verse, which supports my claim, that Muhammad was n0t a messenger for entire Human Race is Qur’an 43:3, which says:-
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand.
We all know that Arabic is not so famous language around world wide, and only a handful countries speak and understand Arabic, see this link. Then why Allah revealed a universal message in that language, which is not spoken or understood by over 80% people around globe? Why not Allah first created a universal language and then revealed a universal book? As we can see that the verse 43:3 clearly states, that the Qur’an is in Arabic so that Arabs may understand it, but not entire mankind.
Next we read Qur’an 62:2, which says:-
It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom – although they were before in clear error -
In the above verse Allah again clearly says that Muhammad is a messenger, for those Illiterate (gentiles) people of Arabia as he (Muhammad) too was illiterate (Gentile), whom Muhammad can teach the Book and Wisdom, but not for Mankind.
Next we read Qur’an 6:92, which says:-
And this (the Quran) is a blessed Book which We have sent down, confirming (the revelations) which came before it, so that you may warn the Mother of Towns (i.e. Makkah) and all those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in (the Quran), and they are constant in guarding their Salat (prayers).
Now, we don’t need to look for any more such verses in Qur’an, as the above verse is sufficient to refute the claim that Muhammad was sent for whole mankind. As we see that Qur’an was revealed to warn people of Mecca and those around it, which is obviously not the entire world.
So, we see that Muhammad was not sent as Messenger for whole mankind but only for Arabs, and we have also found contradictory verses in Qur’an, which itself proves that Muhammad was not a messenger of Allah, but a self proclaimed prophet.

Mohamed(pbuh) was born in Arabia, he was an Arab, unlettered Arab, and so was the Quran revealed in Arabic, but was revealed for the whole Mankind and so was Mohammed(pbuh) appointed as Mercy for all of the Mankind, though he was an Arab.
That is the reason why we have Muslims of every nationality the World over . Allah said that, didn’t He? Hey, a surprise!!

You forced me to read Quran 2:87, which has done no Magic on me. The verse says:-
First of all I would thank you for bringing this verse in my attention, as it goes against your theory that Islam is for all Mankind. The verse says, that the GOD gave Torah to Moses, but for whom? For the children of Israel, which according to Muslims themselves was for that particular time. Then God gave Jesus the Gospel, with clear signs. Further God says that he will not send any more messengers to Jews. Why So??
It is answered in very next line, because they did not desire any messenger and they were arrogant. So he will send messenger to Arabs. Now notice that neither Allah/God gave Muhammad clear signs, nor he was Messenger for whole mankind, because as previously stated that he has already sent messengers to Jews/Christians and they don’t desire any messenger in their place, i.e. Israel. So he will send messenger to Arabs, who will speak in their tongue, i.e. Arabic (See Quran 26: 198-199), and will teach to people of Mother of cities, I.e. Mecca. (See Quran 6:92)

There is no kingdom in the entire human history that has ever allowed multi ethnic to be their ruler or king or sultan or raja. Only in Islam that allowed the history to witness various people from different ethnics to become their rulers. First there were Arabs Caliphs, then there were Moors Caliph, then there were Egyptian Caliph then there were Kurdish Caliph, then there were Mamluks Caliph (people from central asian steppe), then there were Turkish Caliph, then there were Moghuls Caliph. These single fact is enough to convince me that Islam is for the whole mankind and not just for Arabs. It is therefora mean that Muhammed was definitely sent to the whole of mankind.
